do small, manageable tasks to give yourself a sense of accomplishment
take a nice, relaxing bath
if somebody upsets you, hang out in your tent with your boyfriend and refuse to participate in battle as everyone on your side is mercilessly killed by your enemies
go for a short walk outside to clear your head
make your favorite food
let your boyfriend dress up in your armor and fight in your place so that you can retain your sense of pride
mourn for your boyfriend when he is killed in the same way that a widow mourns for her dead husband
tidy up your living space
declare that you would eat the flesh of the man who killed your boyfriend raw if you could right before you kill him
tie the man who killed your boyfriend to your chariot and drag his body around the walls of troy
refuse to return the body of the man who killed your boyfriend to his family until his father comes in person to ask for it back, giving you an opportunity to remember your sense of humanity and mercy
i dont know when it happened but somewhere along the way “shipping” got a new meaning for younger folk that seems to translate to “i want these people together for real asap”. i think the media had something to do with it. but guys.
guys.
shipping absolutely Does Not mean demanding anything from people/creators. shipping isn’t about expecting and waiting for the day it will certainly happen. it is not a direct translation to Happen Or Die.
shipping means you like the idea of two (or more) people together. you like the concept. you find it fun to imagine the dynamics. you even create fanon content of it (fic, art, edits). it’s all in your head and it’s Fine that way.
is it nice to have a ship become canon? oh my god, yes. but that’s not what shipping is about and yall need to take a step back and breathe because being a jerk to people aint gonna change their mind about ships.
I think why I love transformers so much is that it’s the only robot story I know where the robots are legitimate People? like every other robot story is “oh these robots are piloted by people” or “oh these robots were made by people and they’re learning what it means to be alive and exploring the anxiety around ais/the advance of technology and how you define personhood” or as accessories to the human characters like in star wars or Star Trek or mass effect or like in wall-e the robots are cute but they’re very much just Cute Machines like “oh it’s a coffee maker but it makes cute noises!” or even just people’s minds in robot bodies etc etc but transformers is so different! cause it’s like… yeah they’re robots but they’re first and foremost People… like they have a soul and the robot thing is partly just flavour cause they’re very much people with emotions and personalities but also the incredible worldbuilding you can do in a race of robots like what kind of society would you have if your race lived for millions of years? if you could rebuild your body whenever you wanted? if there was no concept of children? if your brain was a computer and you could just download whatever information you needed and do complex calculations instantly? it’s so INTERESTING the idea of an entire society of completely sentient + sapient robots with no human influence who are nonetheless people…. I just think it’s so neat
and on TOP OF THAT… they can TURN INTO CARS AND STUFF… I love it I love. Transformers it’s so good
Even LGBT people are afraid to create LGBT rep half the time because you fucking goblins critique things with LGBT rep so harshly that the second it does something that you personally don’t like it gets treated even worse than the shows that have absolutely no rep in them.
Demonizing every show that is earnestly trying to provide the rep we’ve been lacking is NOT THE WAY TO GET BETTER REP
